More Scripture Adventures

Reading the scriptures with kids can be quite an adventure.  The "candle reading" (referred to earlier) led to fire hazards as the kids couldn't keep their fingers out of the hot wax.  We are now keeping track of minutes (10 hours = big reward) and it isn't as interesting, but is much safer.

Young readers always put a new spin on things.  Kelsey likes to make up her own ending of words she is not familiar with.  Then if the words are hyphenated, all bets are off.  For instance, we were reading the touching account of The Last Supper but Kelsey changed it up for us. According to Kelsey, this is how the action went down:

John 13:4-5  He riseth from supper, and laid a-
side his garments; and took a towel,
and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into
a bason, and began to wash the dis-
hes.

"Kelsey," Gpa interrupted , "what did he do?"

"He put on his apron, filled up the sink and washed the dishes."

Gpa couldn't quit giggling.  I just about had to stop the running clock timing our session and send him to his room.
