Brent decided to do an Iron Man. It scares me to death, but he has been very determined, disciplined, and courageous. Saturday, a group of Iron Man trainers met at San Hollow for a training in swimming and bike riding. Our family are desert dwellers--open water is not our thing. But Brent jumped in that freezing cold water and swam like a dolphin. He did great. He did well with the biking too. They did not do the running portion of the race today.
Tour de St. George, Spring 2019
LeGrand had a miserable migrane winter and hardly went out on his bike at all. Brent talked him into riding the Spring Tour de St. George. "Just ride the short one with me, Dad!"
They had lots of fun doing the short race and enjoying being together,
Fall Tour de St. George 2018
Mike brought Tyler and Cristian down with him to ride the Fall Tour de St. George. Kids under 18 could ride free with an adult so LeGrand urged the kids to come and earn their first biking medal in the 35-mile ride. Mike rode the 100 while Brent rode the 56-miler.
Christian didn't feel great a few times during the ride, but he wouldn't quit! Someone from Red Rock (the race sponsor) got a picture of him and posted him on their webpage. He was quite the sensation as the youngest finisher.
Tyler got tired of hanging around with Gpa and Christian so he took off on his own and had fun passing everyone in front of them. I asked him if he was sore after the race and he said, "I feel like I could go run 10 miles." Football training has him toned and seasoned! He never even broke a sweat.
Mike showed his remarkable abilities in this race. He stayed with the top riders the whole way, alternating point position and helping them to a great course time of 4:27:14 climbing an elevation of 6200 feet. They averaged just over 22 mph. To say Mike is amazing is an understatement.
